Domaine Serene
A passion to produce exquisite Pinot Noir led Grace and Ken Evenstad to Oregon in 1989. The vineyards of the Domaine are located on three separate estates in Yamhill County: the Evenstad Estate and Winery Hill Estate in Dundee Hills, and Jerusalem Hill Estate on the northeast side of the Eola Hills. The Evenstad Estate, atop the southernmost hill in the prestigious Dundee Hills, ranges in elevation from 520-800 feet. The vineyards face east, south, and west, with glorious views of the Cascade and Coast Range Mountains. The seven vineyards on this estate include Grace and Mark Bradford Vineyards, as well as all three Dijon Clone Chardonnay vineyards: Côte Sud, Etoile, and Clos du Soleil. Diversity in clones, rootstocks, microclimates, slope, and elevation allow for the creation of distinct and complex wines. Winery Hill, located one mile north of the Evenstad Estate, is planted to Dijon Clone Pinot Noir. It is also the location of Domaine Serene’s spectacular five-level gravity-flow winery. Jerusalem Hill Estate is planted to a selection of Pinot Noir clones on its east-facing slope. Meticulous vineyard practices and insistence on extremely low yields allow maximum expression of terroir in the concentrated fruit from each vineyard. This winery only makes ultra-premium, handcrafted wine, with the expertise of winemaker Eleni Papadakis. There is minimal intervention and gravity-flow movement of the wine from beginning to end.
