Gemstone Vineyard
Part of the Krewe du Vin since 2005, Gemstone founders, Suzie and Paul Frank, and owners, Carol and Michael Marks, were the 2008 “Carnivale du Vin Event Bacchus.” Suzie and Paul planted their first vines on a stony slope in the Napa Valley 15 years ago and were rewarded with precious berries of intensely rich flavors to make their first release in 1997. Called Gemstone, it was immediately rewarded 95 points and has sold out on release every year.
The vineyard was acquired this past year by longtime friends and Gemstone enthusiasts Carole and Michael Marks. They are committed to continuing the legacy of uncompromised quality at Gemstone, and have retained the services of famed winemaker Philippe Melka and the founders, Suzie and Paul.
Michael, a recipient of Fortune Magazine’s ”Business Heroes” award, was responsible for building Flextronics into the largest contract electronics manufacturer in the world and continues to serve on the boards of some of America’s largest corporations. He also has much fun as an owner of the Golden State Warriors Basketball team. Michael and Carole are active in many philanthropic causes and are directors of The V Foundation.
