Rubicon Estate
Rubicon Estate has a rich history of winemaking dating back to the 1880s, when sea captain Gustave Neibaum sought to make wines as highly respected as those from abroad. In 1975, Francis Coppola vowed to reconstruct the estate and spent twenty years reuniting all original vineyards.
Before joining Rubicon Estate as gérant-general manager in January 2006, Larry Stone created Rubicon Restaurant, in honor of the Estate which he now runs, in San Francisco in 1994. Under his guidance, Rubicon Restaurant has earned the prestigious Wine Spectator Grand award annually since 1998. Mr. Stone may be the most highly honored sommelier in America. He became the first American to win the title of International Best Sommelier in French Wines and Spirits in Paris and remains the only American to have earned the title of Maitre Sommelier from the Union de la Sommelerie Française.
