5th Annual Event Announced
The Fifth Anniversary Carnivale du Vin will take place November 14, 2009, at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. It will be the ultimate gathering of past “Krewe du Vin” chefs and vintners, who will prepare a tasting style reception. We plan to bring the spirit of the Big Easy to Las Vegas, and the first rate artistry and culture that has helped make New Orleans so special. This special evening, hosted by Chef Emeril Lagasse, will feature 20 food and wine pairing stations, an auction of rare wines, trips and treasures along with rockin’ live entertainment.
Featured Artist George Rodrigue
George Rodrigue, renowned painter and native of Louisiana, will create a special painting to commemorate the Carnivale du Vin 5th Anniversary event. The painting will be auctioned on November 14, 2009 at the Venetian Las Vegas.
Rodrigue, born in New Iberia, the heart of Cajun country, uses symbols of his native Louisiana, not only to capture the essence of his personal world, but also to express the spiritual and cultural ideas as they pertain to Louisiana, the South, and America. In the 1970’s, Rodrigue’s paintings included the subjects of oak trees, Cajun people and traditions, bringing new meaning to the phrase Cajun Artist.
It was the Cajun myth of the loup-garou that inspired his Blue Dog works, his most famous series. His first Blue Dog appeared on as the original artwork cover of a book of Cajun ghost stories.
